Biquan [6.8 km along Taigong Road, Taishan Subdistrict, Pukou District, under the road by Zhujiashan River, Huangyao Community · Ming Dynasty · District-level Cultural Relics Protection Unit] Originally named Mquan (Ink Spring), Biquan is located in Luxiying of Huangyao Community. As early as the Ming Dynasty, it was one of the famous springs east of Pukou Town. The river formed by its spring water was called Heishui River (Black Water River), which served as a natural moat outside the east gate of Pukou Town at the time. The spring flows year-round with a relatively large water volume, containing minerals such as sulfur, and maintains a water temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius. During the Ming Dynasty, cloth dyed with water from this spring was sold to the Hao and Si regions and was known as "Jingqing." The prosperity of the dyeing industry in the eastern gate area during the Ming and Qing dynasties was all thanks to this spring. In the ninth year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty (1804), Kang Jitian, the Provincial Administration Commissioner of Jiangsu, saw that the water was green and renamed it “Biquan” (Green Spring), building a pavilion and erecting a stele, which soon collapsed and was never rebuilt. In the early 1980s, a pool and pump house were built here, but both are now abandoned. In 1983, it was designated as a district-level cultural relics protection unit.

Taishan Subdistrict: Located at the northern end of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Taishan Subdistrict faces the main urban area of Nanjing across the river and is connected by the bridge. It serves as the bridgehead of northern Jiangsu, covering an area of 45 square kilometers with a permanent population of over 100,000 and a floating population of over 50,000, governing 14 communities.

Since the establishment of the new Pukou District, Taishan Subdistrict has actively integrated into the development strategy of riverfront development and Nanjing’s cross-river expansion.
