Nanjing Forestry University is situated at the foot of the scenic Zijin Mountain and by the rippling waters of Xuanwu Lake. It has grown into a multidisciplinary university known for its focus on forestry and excellence in resource, ecological, and environmental studies, offering a wide array of disciplines such as science, engineering, agriculture, literature, management, economics, philosophy, law, and art. The university originated from the merger in 1952 of the Forestry Department of Central University (established in 1902) and the Forestry Department of Jinling University (established in 1888), forming Nanjing Forestry College — one of only three higher education forestry institutions in China at the time. The campus boasts beautiful surroundings and a rich diversity of plant species.
