Nanjing Botanical Exposition Garden

The Nanjing Botanical Exposition Garden is the new garden, while the Nanjing Zhongshan Botanical Garden is the old one, established in 1929 and formerly known as the "Sun Yat-sen Memorial Botanical Garden."

The site spans 68 hectares of land and water and includes the Tropical Plant Palace, shaped like three green leaves. Inside the palace, there are areas for tropical flowers and fruits, tropical rainforest plants, and arid and semi-arid tropical plants. Outdoors, there are also specialized gardens (zones) such as the Grass Garden, Aquatic Garden, Rock Garden, Spore Plant Garden, Forest Leisure Garden, Urban Landscape Plant Area, Children's Garden, and Blind-friendly Plant Garden. The garden houses over 3,000 unique and interesting plant species from around the world, making it a great destination for tourism, leisure, and science education.

There is the "Bottle Tree," native to the desert regions of Australia and nicknamed the "desert water tower" due to its tree trunk that swells like a wine bottle. It can store about two tons of water during the rainy season to survive the long dry period. There is also the "Liana Vine" from the tropical rainforest, which can stretch diagonally from the ground up to trees 20–30 meters high, earning it the nickname "dancing giant vine."

The site is home to the largest "Squirting Cucumber" succulent plant in China. It gets its name because its stem resembles the large belly of the "Budai Monk."
