Former Site of the Central News Agency

The former site of the Central News Agency is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Jiangsu Province.

The former site of the Central News Agency is located at No. 75 Zhongshan East Road, Changjiang Road Community, Xinjiekou Subdistrict, Xuanwu District, Nanjing. The building was designed in 1948 by architect Yang Tingbao and served as the office building of the Central News Agency. It was the tallest building in Nanjing before the 1950s and also one of the earliest modern multi-story steel-concrete frame structures in Nanjing and even in Jiangsu. It holds significant value for studying the urban evolution of Nanjing and the architectural styles and technological developments from the Republican Era to the early post-liberation period.

Changjiang Road Community is situated in the bustling heart of Xinjiekou, bordered by Taiping North Road to the east, Zhongshan Road to the west, Zhongshan East Road to the south, and Changjiang Road to the north, covering an area of approximately 0.42 square kilometers. The community hosts multiple municipal and district-level institutions, including the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, the Municipal Sports Bureau, the Municipal Cultural and Art Center, the National Fitness Center, Xuanwu District Radio & TV University, Jiangsu PICC, three commercial-residential buildings, two banks, and nearly 170 various storefronts.
