Former Site of the Central Military Academy

The Former Site of the Central Military Academy is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Central Military Academy complex, located on Huangpu Road in Xuanwu District, Nanjing, is a group of buildings designed in Western classical architectural style. Originally serving as the headquarters of the Central Military Academy, it became the site of the Nationalist Government's Ministry of National Defense after 1946. It now houses the headquarters of the Nanjing Military Command.

Designed by Zhang Jinnong and others and built by Yang Renji Construction Company, the complex covers an area of 23,499.8 square meters. From 1928 to 1933, a large number of school buildings were constructed, including 62 Western-style bungalows and 17 Western-style buildings, totaling 1,075 rooms, forming a complex dominated by Western architectural styles.

In May 2013, the State Council (State Council Document [2013] No. 13) designated the Former Site of the Central Military Academy as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
