The Jiangyin Binjiang Fortress Tourist Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Jiangyin Binjiang Fortress Tourist Area is located in the eastern suburbs of Jiangyin City, bordering the Yangtze River to the north. Historically known for its military fortress situated on Huangshan Mountain, the area has been named after the fortress as a township since the Republican era. The Binjiang Fortress Tourist Area consists of Huangshan Lake Park and Ebizui Park.

Huangshan Mountain in Jiangyin stands by the Yangtze River, reaching a height of 91.7 meters and stretching 3.2 kilometers from east to west. It is one of the mountain ranges extending eastward from the Maoshan range, undulating along the southern bank of the Yangtze River. To the west, Huangshan connects with E’bi Mountain and Junshan, while to the east it links with Xiaoshan, Changshan, and Wushan. Stretching over 10 kilometers along the river, it forms the ancient impregnable terrain of Jiangyin — “resting against mountains and facing water,” with “water encircling and peaks guarding.” Huangshan faces Gongshan across the river in Jingjiang, like two sentinels guarding the Yangtze’s throat. Here, the Yangtze River sharply narrows as it turns southeast from Jingkou, then widens again before surging into the sea, earning the area the titles “Gateway to River and Sea” and “Strategic Fortress Locking Maritime Routes.”

The Fortress Town encircles the southeastern part of the urban area. To the east, it borders Shan Guan Town across Baiqu Port; to the south, it adjoins Nan Zha and Yun Ting Towns via Huashan and Qishan Mountains; to the west, it reaches the Xicheng Canal; and to the north lies Chengjiang Town and the Economic Development Zone.

Huangshan connects to E’bi Mountain and Junshan to the west, and to Xiaoshan, Changshan, and Wushan to the east, stretching over 10 kilometers along the river, forming the ancient impregnable terrain of Jiangyin — “resting against mountains and facing water,” with “water encircling and peaks guarding.”

Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge

The Jiangyin Yangtze River Highway Bridge is China’s first extra-large steel box-girder suspension bridge with a span exceeding 1,000 meters. It was also the “No. 1 in China and No. 4 in the world” among large steel box-girder suspension bridges in the 20th century. It serves as a critical river-crossing project on the national highway backbone routes connecting Tongjiang to Sanya and Beijing to Shanghai. It is the second bridge in Jiangsu Province that spans the Yangtze River from north to south. Whether viewed from afar at the fort or up close along the riverbank, the Jiangyin Bridge is majestic and spectacular, especially at night when illuminated, offering a truly unique spectacle.

Huangshan Fort

Huangshan Fort is located in the Huangshan Scenic Area of Jiangyin and is also known as the Jiangyin Fortress.

Huangshan Fort has long been known as the “Gateway to Rivers and Lakes” and the “Key Fortress for Maritime Defense,” serving as a strategic military site since ancient times. The ruins of Huangshan Fort still feature remnants of old battlements. Twelve concrete artillery positions are scattered across various mountain bays and peaks, alongside seven excavated antique cannons dating back to the 13th year of the Qing Dynasty’s Tongzhi reign (1874), and two “Yaowu Da Jiangjun” (Displaying Martial Might General) ten-thousand-jin iron cannons with cannonballs, forming historical battle relics of both ancient and modern times. A ten-thousand-jin antique cannon was also unearthed here, inscribed with the words “Yaowu Da Jiangjun.” Today, this place has become a picturesque tourist destination. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the surging autumn tides are especially magnificent — this is one of Jiangyin’s famed Eight Scenic Spots, known as “Huangshan Autumn Waves.” The largest highway bridge over the Yangtze River, the Jiangyin Yangtze River Highway Bridge, also stands here, offering a breathtaking view from above.

Ebizui Park

“Mountains embrace the Lotus City, yet the goose-beak shape amazes.” The beautiful Ebizui Park is located northwest of the Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge, just one kilometer from the city center. Its winding, elegant form resembles a goose stretching its beak into the river, hence its name.

Covering an area of 1,280 mu, the park is primarily mountainous, densely forested, and rich in wild charm. The majestic and spectacular First Suspension Bridge of China runs through the central part of the tourist area, making the bridge a landmark landscape. This blends with Ming and Qing dynasty ancient artillery forts, fortress forest parks, and forty scenic spots such as Jiangwei Haidou (Mouth of the River and Head of the Sea), Chengjiang Ancient Ferry, Ebizui Snow Accumulation, and Pangu Spring Water — forming a grand ensemble of forest, garden, and museum. The multidimensional tourism experience is highly charming and attracts countless visitors.

Huangshan Lake Park

Huangshan Lake pursues the perfect harmony of ecological environment, pastoral poetry, and modernity. With its clear waters, green hills, secluded forests, and uniquely shaped rocks, the presence of the lake adds an autumn hue to every pathway and imprints it with the marks of spring. It reflects a return to nature, allowing one to rediscover simplicity and calm the chaotic mind. It serves as an ideal spot to relieve work pressure after a long day. Additionally, near Guo Pu’s Thatched Cottage to the west, the natural surroundings highlight the refined tastes of ancient literati.
