Shicheng Site

The Shicheng Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The Shicheng Site is located in Huashan Village, Yunting Subdistrict. The site is roughly oval-rectangular in shape, stretching 800 meters from north to south and 400 meters from east to west, covering an area of 320,000 square meters within the walls. Artificially built city walls are found on the east, south, and north sides, with the southern wall being well-preserved. Outside the walls, remnants of a moat can be seen, and the middle section of the eastern wall features a wooden water gate structure, which has been hailed as “the first city of the lower Yangtze River during the late Xia and Shang Bronze Age.”

Huashan Village: Xuejiacun, located in Yunting Subdistrict, Jiangyin City, borders Qishan Forest Park to the north, Huashan Mountain to the west, the Shicheng Site to the south, and the town center to the east. It is a natural village under the jurisdiction of Huashan Village. The village has 324 permanent households and a population of 1,080. With numerous water systems and convenient transportation, it is one of the few ecological havens within the jurisdiction of Jiangyin City.

Since 2011, Xuejiacun in Huashan Village has actively responded to the municipal government’s call for rural environmental improvement.
