Tomb of Wu Jizi

The Tomb of Wu Jizi is located within Shengang Middle School in the southwestern corner of Shengang Town. The postscript to "The House of Wu" in Records of the Grand Historian states: "The tomb of Marquis Ji of Yanling is in Jiyang Township, Piling County." The Yuejue Shu records: "The ancient name of Marquis Ji’s tomb was the ruins of Yanling." The Huanyu Ji notes: "The tomb of Marquis Ji is located 70 li north of Jinning County, west of Shenpu." A temple dedicated to Marquis Ji was built over the site, with a statue erected for worship.

Inside the temple is an ancient seal script tomb stele, said to have been inscribed by Confucius, bearing ten characters. The inscription reads: "Alas, here lies the tomb of the nobleman of Yanling of Wu." It is commonly known as the "Ten-Character Stele." It was destroyed during the early days of the War of Resistance against Japan. The rubbing measures 2.26 meters in height and 0.93 meters in width. The current tomb mound is 4 meters high and covers an area of 2,694 square meters.
