The Jiangyin Crossing-the-Yangtze Campaign Memorial Hall is situated within the Jiangyin Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery, at the foot of the picturesque Huangshan Mountain, built in harmony with the mountain’s contours and facing south. It was first built in April 1994 and officially opened in April 1997, covering a site area of 36,300 square meters, with a construction area of 2,300 square meters and a green space of 20,000 square meters, involving a total investment of over 15 million yuan. This is a modern architectural complex that blends traditional and contemporary styles, dignified and simple, majestic and solemn. From afar, it resembles a battle ship setting sail on the Yangtze River, charging through the waves toward victory, evoking deep thoughts. The exhibition hall closely centers on the theme of the river crossing, and through six thematic sections — Preparing for the Crossing, Welcoming the Dawn, Winning Over the Fortress, Majestic Troops Crossing the River, Pursuing the Fleeing Foes, and the Ancient City Reborn — it reflects the sweeping and magnificent battle of the river crossing, highlighting the distinctive feature of the Jiangyin Crossing-the-Yangtze Campaign: “achieving the greatest victory with minimal sacrifice.”

Upon entering the Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery, the first thing you see is a massive stone surrounded by flowers and green trees, engraved with eight bold Chinese characters — “Jiangyin Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery” — inscribed by Shen Peng, a renowned calligrapher from Jiangyin. A few steps ahead, four characters — “Noble Spirit Lives On” — formed by small green juniper bushes, set a solemn and respectful atmosphere for paying tribute to the martyrs. Just a few meters away stands a wall relief inscribed with Chairman Mao Zedong’s handwritten poem “The People's Liberation Army Captures Nanjing.” To the north of the wall relief lies a rectangular pool, flanked on both the east and west sides by a 55-meter-long relief corridor that showcases poetry and calligraphy inscriptions about Jiangyin, created by master calligraphers from across China. Ascending the steps, on the eastern side is the 1,100-square-meter Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall. On the western side is the 1,100-square-meter Crossing-the-Yangtze Campaign Memorial Hall, which opened in April 1999. The hall displays 165 revolutionary relics and 211 images, vividly and in detail portraying the entire process of the river crossing. Through the use of modern display techniques involving sound, light, and electricity, it recreates the grand spectacle of a million heroic troops crossing the great river.
