Changjing Folk Custom Museum

The establishment of the Folk Custom Museum was made possible when the town’s Party committee and government repurposed the auxiliary south wing of the former residence of Zhang Dalie. Originally, this building served as the Zhang family’s kitchen, servants’ quarters, woodshed, animal barn, and grain storage. The Folk Custom Museum is divided into three main exhibition halls: the Folk Life Exhibition Hall, the Folk Farming Exhibition Hall, and the Folk Weaving Exhibition Hall, showcasing some of the tools and items used in the daily lives and customs of Changjing residents in the past. Many of these folk utensils have long since disappeared from everyday life, but as part of our history, revisiting them today evokes a strong sense of the passage of time. Some elements of these folk customs distinctly reflect the characteristics of the Chinese nation.

Changjing Town: Once known as Dongshuncheng, Changjing is an ancient town in the Jiangnan region with a long history, a rich cultural heritage, and a land blessed with remarkable people. It is one of the birthplaces of Wu culture. Historical research indicates that the area has a history of over 7,000 years, a civilization spanning more than 5,000 years, and written records dating back 2,500 years. The town covers an area of 54 square kilometers, with a registered population of 56,000, and includes 12 administrative villages and one community residents' committee.

Changjing Town is under the jurisdiction of Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, and is located at the geometric center of the Suzhou–Wuxi–Changzhou economic zone in the Yangtze River Delta.
