Zhongyi Old Street

Zhongyi Street was known as South Gate Street during the Ming Dynasty, Hexi Street in the Qing Dynasty, and later renamed South Outer Street after the Republic of China. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, it was officially named Zhongyi Road, and after the liberation, it became Zhongyi Street. Stretching 680 meters from Pingguan Bridge in the north to Bazizi Bridge in the south, this street served as the main thoroughfare connecting Jiangyin City to its southern outskirts. Historically, it was one of Jiangyin’s most bustling areas and also a historic witness to the local people's resistance against Japanese pirates, the Qing Dynasty, and Japanese aggression.

Chengjiang Subdistrict: Located in the urban core of Jiangyin, Chengjiang Subdistrict is home to the municipal Party committee, municipal government, and serves as the city’s political, economic, and cultural center. Covering a total area of 124.3 square kilometers (including the Chengdong New Town Office), it governs 49 community committees and 22 village committees. By the end of 2008, it had a registered population of 229,403 and a migrant population of 108,458.
