Nanjing Academy

Nanjing Academy is located on Renmin Middle Road in the city center. Established in the eighth year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1882), it was founded by Huang Tifang, the then Jiangsu Provincial Education Commissioner, and built with funding from Zuo Zongtang, the Viceroy of Liangjiang. Covering an area of 97 mu, it preserves two ancient wells, six stone steles, and the four characters “Nanjing School” on its southern gate—rebuilt in 1916—were handwritten by Zhang Jian.

Chengjiang Subdistrict: Chengjiang Subdistrict is situated in the downtown area of Jiangyin City and serves as the seat of the Jiangyin Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, as well as the political, economic, and cultural center of the entire city. It spans a total area of 124.3 square kilometers (including the New Town East Subdistrict Office), and governs 49 community residential committees and 22 village committees. By the end of 2008, it had a registered population of 229,403 and a migrant population of 108,458.
