Wenxuan Tower is located in the southwest of the backyard of Gu Shan Xiang Shan Guanyin Chan Temple. Historical records indicate that in the fourth year of the Putong era (523 AD) during the Liang Dynasty, at the age of 22, Xiao Tong invested considerable manpower, material resources, and financial means to construct a tower within Gu Shan Xiang Shan Temple for selecting literary works. He invited scholars such as Liu Xiaowei and Yu Jianwu to discuss classical texts and literature. The tower had ten rooms, built in the style of the Liang Dynasty palace towers, and was nestled among green trees and bamboo groves.
