The South Gate Catholic Church is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Catholic Church is located outside the South Gate. In the third year of the Daoguang reign (1823), French Father Jérôme-Hyacinthe-Henri Verrolles came to Jiangyin. He purchased land outside the South Gate and built a house for preaching on Shizijie outside the South Gate. In 2001, the Jiangyin Catholic Church was demolished and rebuilt. The newly constructed bell tower stands at 58.5 meters tall and is quite spectacular.

Chengjiang Subdistrict: Located in the central urban area of Jiangyin, Chengjiang Subdistrict is the site of the Jiangyin Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, as well as the political, economic, and cultural center of the city. It covers a total area of 124.3 square kilometers (including Chengdong New Town Office), and governs 49 community committees and 22 village committees. At the end of 2008, it had a registered population of 229,403 and a migrant population of 108,458.
