Qingyang North-South Street is located in the Qingyang town area and has a history of over 1,700 years. As early as the Northern Song Dynasty, Qingyang had already developed into a major thoroughfare town connecting several counties north and south of Jiangyin, bustling with logistics and thriving in commerce. The old street has witnessed the rise and fall of Qingyang’s prosperity through the ages and embodies the “market culture” of Jiangnan ancient towns.

Qingyang Town: Qingyang, anciently known as Qing?, was established as a township during the Northern Song Dynasty and has a recorded history of over 1,700 years. Polished stone tools and black pottery from the Liangzhu culture, unearthed in the 1970s, indicate that humans had settled and thrived here as early as 5,000 years ago during the Neolithic Age. By the Ming and Qing dynasties, due to its strategic location along water transport routes, Qingyang flourished with “thousands of households” and “a convergence of boats and carts,” earning it the nickname “Little Wuxi.”
