Huangqiao Old Street

Huangqiao Old Street is located in the southeast of Yuecheng. Built during the Song Dynasty, it was named Huangqiao in honor of Lord Chunshen Huang Xie, who built ponds and reclaimed fields around Yuecheng. During the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty, Gu Tianyou migrated from Taicang to Huangqiao Li, hence the saying among locals: “The Huangqiao Street came before the Yuecheng Bridge.” The old street stretches about 500 meters from east to west, scattered with historic buildings, traditional trades, and vintage items, where local life still follows age-old customs.

Yuecheng Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Jiangyin City. Established as Yuecheng Town in 1949, renamed Yuecheng Township in 1951, changed to a commune in 1958, reverted to township in 1983, and re-established as a town in 1991. Located in the southwestern part of the city, it is 14 kilometers from downtown Jiangyin and 29 kilometers from downtown Wuxi. Covering an area of 40 square kilometers with a population of 43,000, it is traversed by the Xicheng Highway and Yueheng Highway, both connecting to two dedicated exits of the nearby Shanghai–Nanjing Expressway.
