Subridge

Subridge spans the Cai Gang River in Xinqiao Town, having withstood over 360 years of history. Legend has it that during the Yuanyou era of the Northern Song Dynasty, the great literary master Su Dongpo, after retiring from his official post and settling in Changzhou, often came here. He was drawn to the scenic White Dragon Mountain and purchased farmland to build a manor. The villagers called the manor “Su’s Villa,” and the bridge he constructed was also named “Subridge.”

Xinqiao Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Jiangyin City. Established as Xinqiao Township in 1951, it was merged into Tangshi Township in 1955, re-established as Xinqiao Commune in 1962, changed back to Xinqiao Township in 1983, and upgraded to a town in 1991. Located in the southeastern part of the city, it is 25 kilometers from downtown Jiangyin and 40 kilometers from downtown Wuxi. The town covers an area of 19.3 square kilometers and has a population of 22,000. Chenglu Highway runs east-west across the town, while Taixin Highway extends north-south through the area. Waterways connect primarily via the Zhangjiagang River, linking with Huatang River, Taiqing River, and Caijing, which in turn connect to the Yangtze River and Taihu Lake.
