Qingyang Grain Depot

The Qingyang Grain Depot, commonly known as Beixin Warehouse, is located at the west end of Yingxiu Bridge along the North Riverside. It consists of two main sections: the eastern and western areas. The eastern section was built in the 1950s, while most of the western section was constructed in the 1980s. This depot witnessed the state monopoly on grain purchase and sales from 1954 to 1984, recording the history of households receiving just over twenty pounds of grain and one and a half taels of cooking oil per month, and also bore witness to the history of most farmers relying on reissued grain in the 1960s.

Qingyang Town: Qingyang, anciently known as Qing?, was established as a township during the Northern Song Dynasty. With written records dating back more than 1,700 years, it has a long history. Polished stone tools and black pottery from the Liangzhu culture, unearthed in the 1970s, prove that as early as 5,000 years ago during the Neolithic Age, ancestors had already settled and thrived here. By the Ming and Qing dynasties, due to its location along a key waterway, Qingyang flourished with “thousands of households” and “a convergence of boats and carts,” earning it the reputation of “Little Wuxi.”

Qingyang covers a total area of 67.6 square kilometers and has a population of 72,000. It is located in China’s economically developed eastern coastal region—famous for the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou (Suzhou, Wuxi...) area. More detailed information about Qingyang Town++
