The Ancestral Hall of the Shen Clan is located along the northern bank of the river in Qingyang Town. Originally built during the Qing Dynasty, it features a brick-and-timber structure with flush gable roofs. The hall is divided into three courtyards and two enclosed spaces, with a stage situated on the south side of the second courtyard. Its main structure is made of brick and timber, showcasing a grand and spacious design. The brick carvings and fireproof walls are richly varied with clear patterns. Historically, the Shen family was a prominent clan in Qingyang. Historical relics such as the “Wukong Temple Stele Inscription,” the “Jinshu Taoist Monastery Record,” as well as ancient bridges and streets, all bear traces of the Shen family’s legacy.

Qingyang Town: Qingyang, anciently known as Qing?, was established as a township during the Northern Song Dynasty. It has a documented history of over 1,700 years. Polished stone tools and black pottery from the Liangzhu culture, unearthed in the 1970s, indicate that people have lived and thrived here since the Neolithic Age, around 5,000 years ago. By the Ming and Qing Dynasties, due to its location along a key waterway, Qingyang flourished with “a thousand households” and “a convergence of boats and carts,” earning it the nickname “Little Wuxi.”

Qingyang covers a total area of 67.6 square kilometers and has a population of 72,000. It is located in China’s economically developed eastern coastal region — the renowned Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou (Suzhou, Wuxi...) area. ++More detailed information about Qingyang Town++
