Tangjialou

Tangjialou is located on Daxi Street in Zhouzhuang Town and is regarded as the symbolic birthplace of Zhouzhuang’s national textile industry. The building is a three-bay, two-story, three-section revolving corridor structure. In 1935, after the local nationalist capitalist Tang Weiren established the Hengshun Cloth Shop, he commissioned Zhou Rulin from Qifangqiao to design and construct the building. Zhou Rulin once carved a "rhinoceros drawing water" pavilion out of boxwood, featuring a circulating water-pumping mechanism—exquisite and lifelike—and was hailed as the “Living Lu Ban.”
