The mighty Yangtze flows eastward, its waves recede to reveal sandbars. Sediments carried from the upper reaches of the Yangtze gradually accumulate near the river mouth, forming vast stretches of sandbars and tidal flats. This southern Yellow Sea tidal flat area is known as the finest in the East. Vast sandbars stretch endlessly toward 0; when the tide comes in, the waters are vast and misty, and when it recedes, fertile plains spread far and wide, rich in shellfish, shrimp, and crab resources. It is abundant in prized seafood such as clams, razor clams, cockles, blood clams, sea anemones (known locally as sea sunflowers), mud snails, as well as prawns and swimming crabs. Here, you can hook fiddler crabs, collect mud snails, tread on clams, dig for sea anemones, and pick seaweed — graceful movements that resemble a “seaside disco.” You can also fully enjoy the scenery of Golden Beach, surf the waves, play beach volleyball, kick beach soccer, or ride a beach motorcycle. When you’re tired, pitch a tent, set up a stove, and have a picnic barbecue. After indulging in a feast, fall asleep lulled by the sound of the waves.
