Huangpu River Cruise (Huangpu River Water Cruise Ferry Terminal) is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Huangpu River, a symbol of Shanghai and a well-known domestic tourism hub, remains a classic component of Shanghai tours. Cruises set off daily from the “Light of the Huangpu” dock on the Bund, carrying you from the vibrant city center to the meeting point of the Huangpu River and the Yangtze River, the world’s third-largest, as they flow into the sea beyond Wusongkou—at “Three Forked Waters.” Gliding through the river, you’ll gaze across to clusters of historic buildings that have witnessed over a century of change, stirring deep emotion.

The vessel used for the cruise, “Huangpu Cruise No. 1,” cost a total of 32 million yuan. It inherits the double-hulled, twin-dragon design and classic Chinese architectural style of the original “Huangpu” ship. At 57 meters in length and 17 meters in width, it has a maximum capacity of 1,000 passengers. The ship’s structure features traditional Chinese pavilions and towers, divided across four decks: the main deck, upper deck, sightseeing deck, and pilot deck.

The entire ship is adorned with vermillion pillars, carved railings, painted beams, and wooden lattice windows. Golden dragons, their scales made of thin copper sheets, shimmer in sunlight and glow with colorful lights at night. Inside, there is a large wood carving titled “Dragon Soaring Across the Seas” along with dozens of other wooden carvings. The ship also houses four grand lounges, eight private rooms, and structures like a beacon tower and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, catering to sightseeing, dining, leisure, conferences, weddings, and more.

Opening Hours

Every evening from 18:00–21:30. Boats depart every half hour (for short trips).

From Zhongshan East Second Road to Yangpu Bridge: 1-hour cruise, 35 RMB per person during the day. At night, small boats (100 people) cost 50 RMB per person, and large boats (800 people) cost 70 RMB per person. On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the fare is 90 RMB. From Zhongshan East Second Road to Wusongkou: approximately a 3-hour cruise, departure at 14:00. Lower deck tickets are 90 RMB, upper deck tickets are 120 RMB (including drinks and snacks).
