Introduction The beauty of a city should consist of three components: architecture, sculpture, and greenery. Urban sculptures are known as the “eyes of the city” and are an important part of beautifying the urban environment. The Bund City Sculpture Group consists of three stainless steel sculptures: “Light of the Huangpu River,” “Sail,” and “Wind.” Located in the green corridor of the Bund on East Jinling Road, they shine brilliantly under the sunlight. “Light of the Huangpu River” features a novel design, using vertical combinations of water waves and droplets that resemble musical notes leaping on a staff, playing a light and cheerful melody that sings the praises of the Huangpu River, Shanghai’s mother river. “Sail” depicts the dense array of sails on the Huangpu River, with fleets heading to all parts of the country; the connection between the sails and their multi-curved, flowing forms add a dynamic three-dimensional effect. “Wind” uses acute and obtuse angles, arcs and straight lines, as well as folded undulations to convey the powerful gusts of reform sweeping through, presenting a scene of boundless vitality.
