The Shanghai Municipal People's Heroes Memorial Tower covers a construction area of 16,000 square meters and was completed in 1993. It is a commemorative structure built to honor the revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the liberation of Shanghai since 1840. It is located within Huangpu Park on the Bund, at the confluence of the Huangpu River and the Suzhou River.

Situated in Huangpu Park, once the site where signs read “No admittance to Chinese and dogs,” the Shanghai People's Heroes Memorial Tower provokes deep reflection. Its three gun-shaped towers symbolize the everlasting memory of the martyrs who sacrificed gloriously in the Opium Wars, the May Fourth Movement, and the Liberation War, conveying a profound and succinct message.
