Huaihai Park

The site of Huaihai Park was originally the Baxianqiao Cemetery. In August 1956, based on a proposal by People's Congress representatives to convert the Baxianqiao Cemetery into a park, the municipal government's executive meeting decided that year to establish the park.

Construction of the park began on March 17, 1958, and it opened to the public on July 1, being named Huaihai Park.

In 1997, the Luwan District People’s Government carried out another renovation of the park.

The current park covers an area of 25,641 square meters. The northern part is an open-front courtyard area, featuring a green space full of contemporary charm highlighted by water features, tree arrangements, and lighting. The southern part includes the central garden area, lawn area, woodland area, and amusement service area. The central garden area contains specialized gardens with bamboo, maple, orange, camellia, magnolia, crape myrtle, osmanthus, and wintersweet. The woodland area features undulating hills up to 4 meters high covered with lush layers of camphor, photinia, Chinese tallow, cherry blossom, and azalea trees. The amusement service area in the southwest corner houses a children’s playground and the Qizhongtian Entertainment Complex. A 3,600-square-meter evergreen lawn is fresh and bright, pleasing to the eye, and the transparent fences allow the park’s scenery and natural atmosphere to flow into the surrounding environment. The entire park is filled with graceful bamboos, swaying flower trees, dense green lawns, and over 120 varieties of ornamental plants, with more than 40,000 woody plants in total, and a green coverage rate of nearly 70%.
