Shanghai Jiuzi Park

Shanghai Jiuzi Park is bordered by the Suzhou River to the north, Chengdu North Road to the west, Lane 1050 Chengdu North Road to the south, and the warehouse of the Municipal Fruit Company to the east. It covers an area of 7,700 square meters, with 4,778 square meters of green space. The district government invested a total of 7 million yuan in the project. The entire construction began in November 2005 and was completed on January 22, 2006, opening to the public after 77 days. Jiuzi Park was designed as a theme park that reflects nine traditional alleyway games from old Shanghai. The park takes its name from nine folk games once popular among Shanghai children: throwing knucklebones (掼结子), spinning tops (抽陀子), jumping rubber bands (跳筋子), rolling hoops (滚轮子), playing marbles (打弹子), hoop tossing (套圈子), playing with walnuts (顶核子), diabolo spinning (扯铃子), and hopscotch (造房子).
