The Rockbund Art Museum is a contemporary art museum and one of the most outstanding participants in the vibrant global art scene. Since its opening in 2010, it has hosted numerous exhibitions by renowned domestic and international artists, earning widespread acclaim.

The Rockbund Art Museum is China’s first contemporary art museum fully committed to supporting contemporary art creation and artistic innovation. As an integral part of The Rockbund project, the museum reflects the initiative’s grand vision of focusing on the Bund Source area, preserving historic architecture, and revitalizing the local cultural scene through art, fashion, commerce, and leisure activities. Backed by strong financial resources, the museum supports artists in creating new, original works, conceiving and curating short-term art exhibitions, and placing great emphasis on professionalism and content quality in its curatorial practices.

The Rockbund Art Museum actively engages with contemporary art, bringing vitality to both the Chinese and international art scenes. Its exhibitions feature important and thought-provoking challenges in contemporary art (such as Cai Guo-Qiang: Peasant Da Vinci in 2010 and Paola Pivi’s solo exhibition Sharing, But Not Fairly in 2012), and it is committed to commissioning new site-specific works (such as Model Home 2012: A Proposition by Michael Lin in 2012). It also invites independent curators to re-examine exhibition practices (such as Hou Hanru’s Day for Night in 2011, featuring artists Choi Jeong Hwa, Nedko Solakov, Pietro Gabriella Csáki, Sam Samore, Shazia Sikander, Du Yun, Sun Xun, Tu Wei-Cheng, and Zhou Tiehai; and Liao Wei’s Time Travellers in 2012, featuring artists Huang Yong Ping, Yan Lei, Liu Jianhua, Sun Yuan & Peng Yu).

The Rockbund Art Museum provides space for artists and curators with specific needs and strong creative aspirations to develop art projects, conceive, create, and collaborate on solo and group exhibitions. It balances international and domestic artists, embraces a wide range of creative practices (including dance, design, architecture, etc.), and promotes influential leading artists and emerging art initiatives.

With a mission of “humanistic care and the promotion of art,” the museum offers audiences the best presentation and viewing environment for artworks, and is dedicated to the research, exchange, and promotion of contemporary art. The museum’s newly established research and education platform collaborates openly with various academic institutions, foundations, and universities, organizing a diverse range of activities including lectures, seminars, film screenings, performances, workshops, and educational programs.

Full Price: 50 RMB per person

Concession: 20 RMB per person

Students and teachers with valid student or teacher ID can purchase concession tickets.

Free Admission Policy:

Seniors aged 70 and above, children under 7, people with disabilities, and military personnel with valid ID can visit for free.

RAM members enjoy free admission.
