The Shanghai World Expo Museum serves as a patriotic education base.

The World Expo Museum is not only China’s first truly international museum in the truest sense, but also the world’s only museum that comprehensively showcases the theme of world expos. Its architectural design theme centers on “Expo Memories” and “Urban Life,” expressed through two symbolic images: the “Historical Valley,” representing history, meditation, and eternity, and the “Cloud of Celebration,” symbolizing the future, openness, and the moment.

The museum has an exhibition area of approximately 12,000 square meters, featuring eight permanent exhibition halls and three temporary exhibition spaces. Halls 1 to 4 mainly display the development and historical features of world expos from 1851 to 2008. Halls 5 to 7 focus on the 2010 Shanghai World Expo, while Hall 8 showcases the exciting content of subsequent expos after 2010.

Opening hours:

Tuesday–Sunday, 9:00–17:00; last admission at 16:15. Closed on Mondays (except when Monday is a national holiday—opening status will be announced separately).

Ticket information:

Free admission. The World Expo Museum operates on a free-but-ticketed basis. Visitors can book tickets on the official website or WeChat official account and collect them on-site for entry.

Transportation:

Take bus routes 18, 318, or 1212 and get off at Longhua East Road Mengzi Road Station, then walk about 250 meters to reach the museum.
