The Former French Concession in Shanghai is one of the best-preserved concessions. Strolling through it feels like stepping back into the tumultuous yet exotic old Shanghai.

The plane trees and buildings on both sides exude a distinct Shanghai charm. Though it bears witness to national humiliation, it also stands as a symbol of Shanghai’s romance.

It's hard to imagine that this serene and refined area was once home to influential figures such as Huang Jinrong and Du Yuesheng. Within these classic buildings lie high-end, exquisite restaurants and bars, which have now become popular destinations for both foreigners and locals.
