The content of the former Jewish sites includes visiting Jewish landmarks such as the Ohel Moshe Synagogue, the Rashi Synagogue, the former Sassoon Building, the former Jewish School, the former Jewish Club, the Jewish Refugee Resettlement Area, the former Marble Hall, and the memorial plaques in the Hongkou Jewish Refugee Resettlement Area. Visitors can also tour the Shanghai Jewish Research Center and its image exhibition room, and engage in discussions with scholars, among other activities. Visitors interested in joining the Shanghai Jewish Heritage Tour are advised to contact the Shanghai Jewish Research Center at least two weeks in advance to arrange the visit. Upon entering the exhibition hall, within a small enclosed space of about 10 square meters, the eternal flame-like representation of one of Judaism’s ritual objects—the seven-branched menorah—suddenly extinguishes, while the screen vividly recreates the history of Jewish refugees in Shanghai. The designer has integrated historical space and time through comprehensive artistic design. The multi-screen multimedia system used is among the world’s most advanced, and Shanghai is the first city to adopt it. On a stone tablet in the exhibition hall is an inscription personally written by former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin during his visit to the memorial in 1993.
