The Shanghai Civil Defense Science Education Museum serves as a science education base.

The Shanghai Civil Defense Science Education Museum is located on the 7th to 10th floors of the Civil Defense Building at No. 108 Ruijin No. 2 Road, covering a construction area of 4,400 square meters. It is divided into four sections: the Preface Hall, the People's Air Defense Hall, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Hall, and the Review and Outlook Hall. By displaying content such as historical air raids, air raid weapons, and characteristics of modern air raids, the museum emphasizes the introduction of knowledge and skills related to civil defense, as well as various effective methods and measures for dealing with modern air raids. In light of the types of disasters prone to occur in Shanghai, the museum also highlights the causes, hazards, and protective measures for disasters and accidents such as typhoons, storm surges, lightning strikes, earthquakes, tornadoes, fires, chemical incidents, and infectious diseases. It offers interactive equipment and installations such as a 4D cinema, subway escape simulations, and on-site first aid, allowing visitors to personally experience and participate in activities to familiarize themselves with escape methods and self-rescue and mutual rescue skills.

As a comprehensive science education base for popularizing civil defense and public safety knowledge, the museum is open to the public free of charge. It helps citizens, especially young people, to further enhance their awareness of national defense and civil defense, understand and master relevant protective knowledge and skills, and continuously improve Shanghai’s overall capacity to respond to modern warfare and various disasters.
