Shanghai No. 2 People's Hospital, originally named Shanghai Hospital, was jointly funded and established in 1909 by patriotic figure Li Pingshu. It was the first Chinese-founded hospital integrating both Chinese and Western medicine. After its establishment, the hospital provided free medical treatment to the poor and actively assisted and participated in revolutionary activities. From 1943 to 1944, Zou Taofen secretly stayed at Shanghai Hospital. Dean Zeng Yaozhong risked being tracked and arrested by Japanese forces and the Wang puppet regime, personally treating and nursing him while implementing strict confidentiality measures to evade enemy searches. Zou Taofen continued to write his work "Random Notes from My Ordeal" from his sickbed until the last moment of his life. The hospital also participated in revolutionary struggles such as the May Thirtieth Movement. The hospital has a display room open for free public visits.
