Residential Building on Ruijin No. 2 Road

The residential building on Ruijin No. 2 Road is a protected cultural heritage site of Shanghai Municipality.

The residential building on Ruijin No. 2 Road is located at No. 118 Ruijin No. 2 Road. It now serves as Building No. 1 of Ruijin Hotel. Constructed in the 6th year of the Republic of China (1917), it was designed by the Marsys & Co. architectural firm, with a construction area of 1,335 square meters, two stories, and a brick-and-wood structure. Originally built by the British businessman Marsy, the main building and auxiliary building form an “L” shape. The interior features exquisite decorations, including teak wood paneling and marble flooring. The building is relatively large in scale, with red brick exterior walls, and the corners of the outer walls are reinforced with cement. The front of the residence features a British-style garden, and the porch on the north side is adorned with a water pool, sculptures, flower stands, and other facilities, making it a classic example of a British-style garden residence.

It was designated as a protected cultural heritage site of Shanghai Municipality in 1989.
