Shangzhi Ant River National Wetland Park (Pilot) is located in Shangzhi City, Heilongjiang Province, covering a total area of 1,560 hectares. Originating from the Changbai Mountains and flowing through Heilongjiang as a tributary of the Songhua River, it is also known as the Manyan River. The Ant River basin is surrounded by mountains on three sides. After originating, the river flows from east to west, then turns northwest at Wehe Town in Shangzhi City, and later shifts northeast near Shangzhi City. Upon entering Yanshou County, the river's direction changes again to the north and northeast, forming an "L" shape. The river network is dense with numerous tributaries, including over 300 branches of varying sizes, among which 18 have lengths exceeding 100 km. The Ant River is a first-level right-bank tributary of the Songhua River. It originates from the southwestern slope of Hutouling on the western side of Laoye Ridge in Zhangguangcai Mountain Range, within Yuping Township, Shangzhi City, at an elevation of 700 meters. The main stream flows from west to east through Shangzhi City, Yanshou County, and Fangzheng County, and finally joins the Songhua River at Laolonggang in Songnan Township, Fangzheng County. The Ant River basin has an average annual temperature of 2.3–3.4°C and features a cold temperate continental monsoon climate.
