Jinqian Lake
Jinqian Lake (Xiquan Reservoir) is located 84 kilometers southeast of Acheng City, at the junction of Shangzhi City, Wuchang City, and Acheng. It is formed by the convergence of the Dongquan Eye, Banjie River, Nanda River, Beida River, as well as numerous mountain streams and springs. The lake covers an area of 40.86 square kilometers, with a water storage capacity of 478 million cubic meters, making it one of the largest reservoirs in Heilongjiang Province. The spring water is crystal clear and unpolluted, serving as the essential source of drinking water for local villagers and forest workers.
With its vast, shimmering surface surrounded by mountains, Jinqian Lake presents a stunning interplay of water and landscape, making it not only a great destination for sightseeing but also a crucial habitat for migratory birds. During migration seasons, countless ducks and waders gather on the lake to feed and play. The expansive waters and abundant aquatic life also provide an ideal home for gulls and other waterfowl, which freely soar above the lake and occasionally dive to catch food. Herons living along the lakeshore, rivers, or marshes patiently wait in the grass, watching for fish to snatch. The lake boasts rich aquatic resources, including dozens of fish species—ranging from large carp and silver carp weighing tens of kilograms to tiny shrimp just a few dozen grams in weight. The surrounding mountain streams are perfect for fishing enthusiasts and offer nature lovers an ideal spot to connect with the outdoors and enjoy its serenity.
Surrounded by mountains, Jinqian Lake features over twenty peaks of varying heights and shapes. Due to differences in their formation periods and geological processes—such as physical, chemical, and hydraulic forces—some peaks date back to the early Yanshan intrusive cycle, while others are from the late Hercynian intrusive cycle. Some peaks are steep and rugged, while others are round and majestic. Viewed from the western shore of Jinqian, the eastern mountain range resembles a camel strolling across the desert, hence earning the name Camel Back Peak. On the western shore, two adjacent peaks standing at an elevation of 504.2 meters resemble a loving couple, thus named Divine Couple Peaks. These peaks feature steep slopes and rugged rocks. Climbing to the summit offers a breathtaking panoramic view where water meets mountain, and mountain touches sky, blending into a vast, boundless horizon. A scenic lakeside path winds for hundreds of meters, encircling the mountains and reflecting the blue waters and green hills, refreshing both the mind and spirit. Jinqian Lake is divided into eight major scenic areas, each with its own distinct charm: Longquan Mountain Scenic Area, Wangfo Mountain Scenic Area, Twin Turtle Mountain Scenic Area, Lakeside Scenic Area, Qinglong Mountain Resort, Flying Bridge Park, Sanyu Tian Park, and Nangu Folk Village. The Jinqian Lake tourism area is dotted with uniquely designed villas and lodges built against the mountains and beside the water. Among them is the Goddess Peak Hotel, which combines accommodation, business facilities, and entertainment in one place. With its elegant environment and luxurious architecture, the hotel offers rooms at all levels to suit different types of travelers. The restaurant serves a variety of Chinese and Western dishes, as well as local mountain flavors, guaranteeing a delightful culinary experience. Jinqian Lake is an emerging tourist destination that integrates flood control, irrigation, power generation, and aquaculture. Blessed with exceptional natural resources—breathtaking mountains, beautiful waters, and picturesque scenery—it serves as an ideal summer retreat, vacation spot, leisure destination, and place to reconnect with nature for visitors of all kinds.
