Jinlongshan National Forest Park

Jinlongshan National Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national forest park.

Jinlongshan (Hengtoushan) National Forest Park is situated in Acheng District, 48 kilometers along the Changjiang Road south of Harbin, within the historic birthplace of the Jin Dynasty. It lies in the forest management areas of Jixing and Zhonghe Forest Farms in the eastern mountainous region of the former capital of the Jin Dynasty, Shangjing Huining Prefecture, with its main peak at an elevation of 826 meters—the highest in Harbin—and covers a total area of 8,515 hectares.

The park features six major scenic areas: “Hengtoushan – Primitive Forest (Red Leaves),” “Junwangshan – Volcanic Rock Formations (Olive Mountain Church),” “Diaoshuihu – Geological Wonders (Tianzhu Peak, Dizhu Peak, Shizhu Peak),” “Jiulongshan – Jin Yuan Culture (Cliff Carvings),” “Wushuling – Heling Culture (Mysterious Caves),” and “Songfengshan – Taoist Culture (Tai Xu Cave).” It embodies four major cultural themes—“Jin Yuan, Forest, Geological, and Wellness”—and three key strengths: “resources, environment, and location.” There are also ten major attractions: “red leaves, azaleas, ancient trees, peculiar rocks, streams, cultural relics, sea of clouds, sunrise, pine waves, and snow and ice.”

Jinlongshan (Hengtoushan) Forest Park opened for trial operation in September 2007. In January 2008, it was officially approved as a national forest park by the State Forestry Administration, and in December of the same year, it was listed as a provincial geological park. In 2009, it was promoted to a national AAA-level tourist attraction. That same year, it was named one of twelve key tourism towns and scenic areas for development in the province, and the township where it is located, Dalin, was renamed “Jinlongshan Town.” In 2010, it was selected as one of the “100 Most Worth-Visiting Places in Heilongjiang,” with Jinlongshan positioned as a suburban leisure destination near the city—an ideal choice for wellness, leisure, summer retreats, and vacations, often referred to as Harbin’s backyard garden. It can be described as a pristine forest and a natural oxygen bar on the outskirts of the provincial capital.

Currently, applications are underway to designate it as a provincial-level scenic area, a national geological park, and a national nature reserve. The successful development of Jinlongshan (Hengtoushan) Forest Park has not only enhanced the external visibility of Acheng District but also contributed to the building of Harbin as the “Ice City and Summer Capital” and Heilongjiang as a “Tourism Cool Province.”

Transportation by Bus: Take a bus from Harbin to Acheng, then transfer to a minibus or taxi to reach the park.

Self-driving Route: From Harbin, take the Suiman Expressway, drive 25.7 km, exit at the southern Acheng interchange, turn left onto Yanchuan Street—Jindu Street—A-Heng Highway, drive 27.2 km, then turn right onto Beisong Highway and continue for 4.8 km to arrive.
