The Xinhua Lake Tourist Area is located in the southwest of Daqing, within Datong District, approximately 75 kilometers from the city center and 200 kilometers from the provincial capital, Harbin. The tourist area was established in 2000. It offers projects including power industry tourism, eco-leisure tourism, and four-season lake tourism. In 2004, it was designated as a National Industrial Tourism Demonstration Site.

Power Industry Tourism involves visiting thermal power plants and hydroelectric stations. Through the electricity generation process, visitors can learn “how electricity is produced” and experience firsthand the workflow and technological sophistication of modern large-scale production.

Eco-Leisure Tourism includes visiting the power plant orchard and exploring wetland scenery, offering visitors a sense of finding a “hidden paradise” or discovering “a new scene after winding through willows and blossoms.”

As for Four-Season Lake Tourism, Xinhua Lake serves as the water source for the cooling circulation system of the Xinhua Power Plant. During electricity generation, the plant discharges lake water that has absorbed substantial heat energy into Xinhua Lake via heat exchange, resulting in year-round higher water temperatures—even in winter. For those traveling to Xinhua Lake, the most attractive and enchanting time is undoubtedly winter. The cooling circulation water from the power plant carries a large amount of heat energy, which first enters a small lake through an open channel. In winter, steam rises continuously and diffuses unpredictably over the lake. From the leisure plaza in the middle of the lake, the power plant buildings and tower clusters are all shrouded in mist, making it hard to distinguish between earth and sky. The large amount of water vapor on the lake surface condenses into snow upon cooling, creating a truly unique spectacle. Anywhere the circulating water flows near trees and reeds, rime forms, covering the surrounding tens of kilometers in a vast, silvery white world—an awe-inspiring sight.

Xinhua Lake produces over ten varieties of freshwater fish such as bighead carp, silver carp, and common carp. The fish grow naturally in the suitable water temperature and are delicious, making them natural green food products.

The Xinhua Lake Tourist Area boasts high-end brands and rare resources such as a National Demonstration Site and a northern non-freezing lake. It is an ideal destination for sightseeing, leisure, vacation tourism, as well as for suburban and short-distance trips.

Transportation by Bus: Take a train bound for Lizhi from within Daqing City and get off at Xinhua Tun Station.

Self-Drive Route: Starting from Daqing, take the Daguang Expressway, drive 40.0 km, exit at Wuchang, enter South Sadal Road, drive 16.2 km, turn right onto Y086, drive 14.3 km, then turn right and drive 220 meters, turn left and drive 1.8 km, then turn left again and drive 1.9 km to reach the destination.
