History: Prior to the establishment of the museum, the first floor was used as the Longquan Health Clinic, while the second floor housed eight residential households. In 2002, through coordination by the municipal party committee, the Longquan Health Clinic on the first floor was relocated, and the existing space on the first floor was renovated and arranged as an exhibition. On August 14, 2002, it officially opened to the public. It was affiliated with the Tonghua Municipal Culture Bureau and directly managed by the Tonghua Municipal Cultural Relics Office. In 2010, the Tonghua Municipal Government relocated the residents from the second floor, making the entire building the Gao Zhihang Memorial Hall and restoring parts of the former residence to its original appearance. In 2016, management was transferred to the Tonghua Museum.

Visiting Guide

The memorial hall is located on the east side of Longquan Road, facing the street, with the Tonghua Municipal Party Committee situated across the Erdao River to its east. To the south is Roundabout Street. Located slightly north of the city center's roundabout, it enjoys very convenient transportation. Buses that pass by include routes 22 and 18.

Gao Zhihang (May 14, 1907 – November 21, 1937), an ace pilot of the Chinese Air Force. Originally named Gao Mingjiu, courtesy name Ziheng, he was born in Tonghua County, Liaoning Province (now part of Tonghua County, Tonghua City, Jilin Province). In 1920, he left his studies to join the military, enrolling in the Northeast Army Officer Training Class, then went to France for two years to study aircraft piloting, and returned to serve in the Air Force. During the War of Resistance against Japan, he became a renowned Chinese air force anti-Japanese hero and national hero, serving as Commander of the Chinese Air Force Pursuit Squadron and Commander of the 4th Air Group.
