The Site of the Artillery School of the Northeast Democratic Allied Forces is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Artillery School of the Northeast Democratic Allied Forces, located at No. 288 Tongjiang Road, is now the site of Tonghua No. 5 Middle School.

On September 23, 1945, the Artillery School of Yan'an, led by its president Zhu Rui, set out from Yan'an. After more than three months of arduous trekking, it arrived in Tonghua in December. In January 1946, the Artillery School of Yan'an was officially renamed the Artillery School of the Northeast Democratic Allied Forces. The artillery school consisted of 4 departments, 3 field artillery battalions, 1 anti-aircraft artillery battalion, 1 tank battalion, and an artillery regiment. After its establishment, the Artillery School of the Northeast Democratic Allied Forces participated in the battle to suppress the “February 3rd” incident in Tonghua.

In May 1946, as the Kuomintang launched attacks on the southern Manchuria base area, the school relocated to Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province.
