The Site of the Engineer School of the Northeast Democratic Allied Forces is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Engineer School of the Northeast Democratic Allied Forces is located at No. 1065 Yanhe North Road, and is now the site of Tonghua No. 2 Middle School.

In December 1945, after the Engineer Department of the former Yan'an Artillery School arrived in Tonghua along with the Artillery School, it separated from the Artillery School’s organization and merged with the Engineer Battalion of the Shandong Anti-Japanese University. On March 1, 1946, our army’s first engineer school—the Engineer School of the Northeast Democratic Allied Forces—was established in Tonghua. It was under the administration of the Northeast Military and Political University, with administrative departments including the Administrative Office, Political Office, and Supply Department, and had two battalions under its command.

In May 1946, as the Kuomintang launched an offensive against the southern Manchuria base area, the Artillery School relocated from Tonghua.
