The Museum of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army is a nationally recognized red tourism site and a patriotic education base.

The Museum of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army is located at No. 888 Jingyu Road, Dongchang District, Tonghua City. With a total construction area of 3,800 square meters and an exhibition area of 3,100 square meters, it is a semi-underground structure seamlessly integrated with the Jingyu Mausoleum. It was opened to the public in 2005 on the centenary of General Yang Jingyu’s birth and to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army was a people's anti-Japanese armed force created and led by the Communist Party of China among the various ethnic groups of the northeast region. It was part of the Chinese military forces resisting Japanese aggression, a people’s army forged with patriotism and internationalism. At the critical moment of the nation’s peril, the army rose in self-defense and, over the course of 14 long and extremely difficult years, fought a hard-fought, unyielding and bloody battle against the Japanese imperialist invaders. It eliminated and pinned down a large number of enemy forces, making significant contributions to the victory of the anti-Japanese war in the northeast and across the country.

The Museum of the Northeast Anti-Japanese United Army and the Yang Jingyu Martyrs' Cemetery are national key martyrs' memorial buildings approved and announced by the State Council. They have been designated as national patriotic education bases for primary and secondary school students by the national, provincial, and municipal governments; recognized as national patriotic education demonstration bases by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee; designated as national "Integrity Education" bases; national "National Defense Education" bases; listed as 4A-level “red tourism” classic scenic spots by the state; and named as provincial Party history education bases. The sites receive over 500,000 domestic and international visitors annually.
