Jinjiang Grand Canyon

Jinjiang Grand Canyon is located on the western slope of Heaven Lake in Changbai Mountain, Changbai County, Fusong County, Baishan City, Jilin Province. The canyon stretches 14 kilometers in length, with an average depth of over 80 meters and a width of more than 100 meters, forming a V-shape. It is

one of the major scenic highlights on the western slope of Changbai Mountain and is hailed as the “Volcanic Natural Lava Bonsai Garden.”

The Jinjiang Grand Canyon in Changbai Mountain was formed from volcanic deposits through over 1,000 years of faulting and water erosion and cutting. Dense primeval forests grow on both sides of the canyon, with tall, straight trees. Due to the low temperatures and high humidity in the valley, the old woods are draped with hanging white threads—mosses and mushrooms—that quietly spread out in vibrant colors. This is an extremely spectacular grand canyon, and because its landform is mainly characterized by narrow gorges and steep-walled valleys,

the canyon walls, especially those along the riverbanks at the bottom, are exceptionally steep. Coupled with years of freeze-thaw weathering, the periglacial rock pillars in the canyon have been sculpted by wind and rain over time, forming a colorful, majestic, and magnificent natural landscape.
