Lushuihe National Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national forest park.

Lushuihe National Forest Park is located in Fusong County, Baishan City, Jilin Province, approximately 60 kilometers from the main peaks of the western and northern slopes of Changbai Mountain. It lies within the northwest slope tourism route, covering a total area of 25,786.94 hectares. The park is 340 kilometers from the provincial capital, Changchun, accessible via National Highway 201 connecting to National Highways 302 and 302 to Changchun, and 3.5 hours from Yanji Airport. The Changji Railway runs through the town, placing Lushuihe at the forefront and hub of Changbai Mountain tourism. Visitors can explore both the northern and western slopes of the mountain. The national forest park, together with Changbai Mountain’s Heavenly Lake, waterfalls, stunning alpine gardens, and natural wildlife parks, forms a magnificent and spectacular top-tier plant landscape. Visiting Changbai Mountain’s Heavenly Lake and exploring Lushuihe National Forest Park has become a dream for many. The park consists of the Songhai Scenic Area, Songyuan Scenic Area, Songjiang Scenic Area, Songhu Scenic Area, Zhulu Scenic Area, and Drifting Scenic Area. Dominated by pristine forests, it integrates rivers, streams, waterfalls, rime ice, and snow, characterized by its rugged beauty, dense woods, mystery, and tranquility. The park boasts abundant natural landscapes, beautiful surroundings, and rich biodiversity, including 53 species of animals and plants under national first and second-class protection. With tigers roaring in the mountains, bears hiding in the woods, deer calling in the valleys, otters playing by the streams, wild boars in herds, and roe deer in rows, it is known as a natural wildlife park. Featuring the charm of Changbai Mountain and forest culture, the park is a multifunctional comprehensive forest park offering activities such as forest exploration, hunting, leisure vacations, winter swimming and rafting, ecological studies, and environmental protection. The park has a temperate monsoon climate and is home to Asia’s largest Korean pine virgin forest landscape, spanning 11,725 hectares. Towering ancient trees and the roar of the pine forest create a typical natural oxygen bar, making it an ideal destination for sightseeing, leisure, scientific research, and business conferences.

Main Attractions:

Muyang Garden

Muyang Garden has an exceptionally high negative oxygen ion content of up to 40,000 ions/cm³, serving as a primary collection site for forest air by Jilin Forestry Industry Air Company. The garden features towering ancient trees, including precious species such as Korean pine, Manchurian ash, oak, and purple linden. It also includes a 1,700-meter-long forest walkway and three treehouse-style structures, along with 11 leisure pavilions such as Xiasi Pavilion and Tingtao Pavilion. Additionally, there are various outdoor adventure training facilities, including wooden pile obstacles, log bridges, spider bridges, rope bridges, and high-altitude swings in the forest.

Helu Garden

Helu Garden is a calligraphy and stone carving garden built in 2008, inspired by the phrase "heavenly peaches planted with dew." The garden houses over 40 "Bai Mountain Stone Carvings," divided into three sections: Ancient Rhyme, Modern Chants, and Local Scenery. The Ancient Rhyme section features verses by Qing Dynasty poets; Modern Chants showcases poems by contemporary poets; and Local Scenery displays masterful paper-cut artworks.

Biquan Lake Resort emphasizes multifunctional development, with its ecological garden cultivating precious Chinese medicinal herbs, wild vegetables, and green vegetables available for on-site picking. The resort buildings are designed in the traditional styles of Korean and Manchu ethnic minorities.

Lushuihe Changbai Mountain Hunting Ground

Established in 1987, Lushuihe Changbai Mountain Hunting Ground spans a total area of 30,800 hectares, located at 127°59′43″ east longitude and 42°32′56″ north latitude. It lies at the northwest foot of the main peak of Changbai Mountain, 60 kilometers from the northern slope and 90 kilometers from the western slope. After more than 20 years of continuous expansion, its functions have become increasingly comprehensive, divided into open and enclosed hunting grounds and breeding areas. The hunting club is equipped with a leisure bar, coffee bar, and Guandong Hunting Culture Museum. The hunting practice area features standard shooting positions and small animal models for live ammunition target practice.

Wooden Bagua Maze

In 2008, Lushuihe National Forest Park constructed a wooden maze using leftover timber materials. The maze has a diameter of 60 meters, covering an area of nearly 3,000 square meters, with nine layers (paths). At its center stands a 9.8-meter-high tower. Visitors navigate circular pathways within the maze, which contains multiple routes—some dead ends, some leading back to the entrance. Lucky explorers can reach the tower top after completing the maze.

Jilin Lushuihe National Forest Park is situated in the southeastern part of Jilin Province, in the heart of Changbai Mountain and the upper reaches of the Songhua River. It is 90 kilometers from the western slope and 60 kilometers from the northern slope of Changbai Mountain, with a total management area of 25,786.94 hectares.

Topography and Landform

Fusong County, where Jilin Lushuihe National Forest Park is located, sits in the Changbai Mountain region. The overall terrain gradually slopes from southeast to northwest. The landform type belongs to the Changbai Mountain landform zone, with most of the geology consisting of Changbai Mountain volcanic lava.

Climate Characteristics

Fusong County, where Jilin Lushuihe National Forest Park is located, has a temperate continental monsoon climate with distinct seasons. Winters are long, cold, and snowy, while summers are short, hot, and feature concentrated rainfall. Spring and autumn see highly active cold air movements, resulting in changeable weather and significant temperature fluctuations. The annual average sunshine duration is 2,352.5 hours, with a sunshine rate of 53%. Precipitation is abundant, averaging around 800 millimeters per year.

Transportation and Routes:

Lushuihe National Forest Park and Changbai Mountain Hunting Ground border the Changbai Mountain Management Committee to the east, connect to Dunhua, Hongshi, and Jilin to the north, neighbor Quanyang and Songjianghe to the south, and link to Fusong and Baishan to the west. The park is 340 kilometers from Changchun, with the Changbai Mountain Tourism Ring Road and National Highway 201 (Heda Line) running nearby. Both Changbai Mountain Airport and Yanji Airport serve as aerial gateways, while the waterway primarily follows the Changbai Mountain Lake–Hongshi Lake–Bailong Bay–Wudaosonghua River route.

Lushuihe Town: Lushuihe Town is located in the northeastern part of Fusong County, 87 kilometers from the county seat. It borders Antu County to the east, Quanyang Town to the south, and the Yanjiang Township to the north. The town stretches 40 kilometers from east to west and 36 kilometers from north to south, covering a total area of 855.7 square kilometers.

Established in 1965, Lushuihe has developed over forty years into one of the four major townships in Fusong County. Various county-level departments and provincial forestry bureaus are stationed here. By 2003, the town had a total population of 41,692, primarily composed of Han, Manchu, Xibo, and Korean ethnic groups.
