The Lushuihe International Hunting Ground is situated within the Lushuihe National Forest Park of Changbai Mountain. It was established in 1987 with approval from the National Forestry Department and opened to the public. The Changbai Mountain Hunting Ground lies deep within the primeval forests on the northwestern foothills of Changbai Mountain, approximately 60 kilometers from the main peak of Changbai Mountain, at an altitude ranging from 450 to 1100 meters. The total area is 30,800 hectares, of which 29,146 hectares are open areas and 1,654 hectares are restricted zones. In the open area, there are dozens of animal species available for hunting, such as red deer, roe deer, and wild rabbits. The restricted area is home to over 300 species of vertebrates, including more than 50 species of mammals, over 200 species of birds, 13 species of amphibians, 9 species of fish, and 3 species of cyclostomes.

The Lushuihe International Hunting Ground features dense forests, lush grasslands, and abundant water sources, making it an ideal habitat for wildlife. Here, you can hear tigers roaring in the mountains, bears resting in their dens, deer calling through green valleys, otters playing by streams, wild boars roaming in herds, and roe deer and gazelles moving in lines — making it one of the best destinations for hunting tourism.

Situated within China’s forest tourism region, the unique forest scenery adds a variety of activities to the hunting ground. Tree appreciation, rafting, fishing, skiing, and boating offer a diverse range of fun and excitement. The forest is also home to attractions like the “King of Korean Pine,” “King of Larch,” and the legendary “Joined Trees,” as well as Asia’s largest Korean pine virgin forest, all of which are favorite sights among visitors. The most famous water attraction in the Lushuihe International Hunting Ground is the Bi Quan River. Originating from a cluster of mountain springs within the hunting ground, the river is known for its clear, blue-green waters, hence the name Bi Quan Lake. Built along this river, the “Bi Quan Lake” resort features European-style wooden structures. Visitors can prepare meals and enjoy various recreational activities in clean, charming wooden cabins. The Changbai Mountain Hunting Ground in winter is even more delightful, with its snowy landscapes providing excellent opportunities for skiing, ice skating, and winter swimming. Since the Bi Quan River and Jiulong Spring are low-temperature hot springs, the river water remains unfrozen year-round. When temperature differences occur, rime forms along the riverbanks, adorning the trees in silvery white, creating a pristine, jade-like beauty that allows visitors to fully experience the joy of traveling in the primeval forest. Various European-style wooden villas have been built around the lake and within the forest, all equipped with complete amenities, including private bathrooms and kitchens, making them ideal homes for family trips. Transportation Tips

A dedicated shuttle service departs daily from in front of the Changbai Mountain Hotel at the Lushuihe Forestry Bureau. The shuttle usually leaves around 6:30 AM in the morning and returns around 3:30 PM in the afternoon. Alternatively, you can take a taxi yourself, which costs about 60–80 yuan per car and can wait for you for the entire trip.

Lushuihe Town: Lushuihe Town is located in the northeast of Fusong County, 87 kilometers from the county seat of Fusong. It borders Antu County to the east, neighbors Quanyang Town to the south, and connects to Yanjiang Township to the north. It stretches 40 kilometers from east to west and 36 kilometers from north to south, covering a total area of 855.7 square kilometers.

Lushuihe was established in 1965. After forty years of development, it has become one of the four major towns in Fusong County. Various departments of the county government and provincial forestry bureaus are located in the town. As of 2003, the total population of the town was 41,692, mainly consisting of Han, Manchu, Xibo, and Korean ethnic groups.
