Jilin Meteorite Museum

Around 15:00 on March 8, 1976, in the towns near the suburbs of Jilin City, accompanied by a deafening roar, a visitor from the universe suddenly landed here — it is the Jilin meteorite now displayed at the Jilin Meteorite Museum.

The Jilin meteorite landed within a range of 500 square kilometers near Jilin City and Yongji County. A total of 138 meteorite specimens and over 3,000 fragments were collected at the time, weighing a combined 2,616 kilograms. Among them, the No. 1 meteorite, known as the "Continent's Number One Deity," weighs 1,770 kilograms and is currently the largest stone meteorite in the world. This meteorite is dark brownish-black with regmaglypts.

In terms of quantity, weight, distribution range, and scientific value, the Jilin meteorite is rare in the world. It has been determined that the parent body of the Jilin meteorite was originally a planet in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter in the solar system, with an age of about 4.6 billion years.
