History: In 1987, Gongzhuling City established a Cultural Relics Management Office. In 1990, to fully leverage the role of the cultural relics collection at the Gongzhuling City Cultural Relics Management Office, the Party Committee of the Bureau of Culture decided to establish an ancient coin exhibition. In 2008, the Gongzhuling City Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication applied to the municipal government for the establishment of a museum, transferring all 2,033 cultural relics from the cultural relics office to the museum’s collection. The Gongzhuling City Government officially approved the establishment of the museum in December 2009.
