Longshan Korean Ethnic Folk Village

The Longshan Korean Ethnic Folk Village in Longjing City was established in 1995, officially named by the Jilin Provincial Government, and began receiving foreign guests. Nestled against mountains and near water, the village boasts beautiful scenery, warm hospitality, and rich ethnic customs. It lies 10 kilometers north of Yanji City, 9 kilometers west of Longjing City, backed by the steep and majestic Mao'er Mountain; and cradles the renowned Hailan River...

With strong support and assistance from the provincial government and tourism authorities, over 600,000 yuan has been invested to build a new folk museum, traditional Korean residences, and modern earthen and thatched cottages, as well as to expand pavilions, the Red Arrow Gate, and shops. Additional features such as swings, springboards, and Korean-style guesthouses capable of hosting foreign visitors have also been added, forming a comprehensive industry system encompassing food, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, entertainment, and shopping. In the folk village, visitors can tour villagers’ homes and view various traditional farming tools, ride in ox-drawn carts, swing on traditional swings, and jump on seesaws. If timing is right, they may also witness vibrant celebrations such as Korean elders’ 60th birthday ("Hwagap"), babies’ 100th-day ceremonies, and traditional weddings of young couples.

On January 9, 1991, Comrade [General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee] personally visited Longshan Village; on August 26, 1995, Singapore’s President Ong Teng Cheong paid a visit to the Longshan Folk Village and planted a “Friendship Tree” symbolizing a bright future; on July 16, 1995, the inaugural ceremony of the “1995 China Yanbian Korean Ethnic Folk Custom Tour” was successfully held. Over the years, the Longshan Korean Ethnic Folk Village has attracted numerous domestic and international tourists with its unique ethnic customs and unparalleled regional characteristics, having received a total of

tens of thousands of visitors, making it an important part of Longjing City’s folk tourism attractions.
