Hunchun City Museum

Hunchun City Museum was established in 1959 and shared office space with the Cultural Center. In 1963, the Hunchun County People's Government decided to temporarily dissolve the Hunchun County Museum and have the Cultural Center take over its functions. In 1979, the provincial government officially approved the establishment of the Hunchun County Cultural Relics Management Office. In 1989, the Hunchun Municipal People's Government approved the establishment of Hunchun City Museum, which operated with the Hunchun City Cultural Relics Management Office under a shared staff structure, handling the responsibilities of both the relics management office and the museum. The Hunchun City Museum is primarily responsible for promoting and implementing national laws and regulations on cultural relics protection; formulating and implementing cultural relics work plans within the administrative region, and providing suggestions and opinions on cultural relics protection to the local people's government; taking full responsibility for the protection, collection, exhibition, and management of cultural relics; preventing all actions that damage cultural relics or violate laws and regulations; as well as engaging in cultural relics collection, appraisal, cataloging, preservation, research, exhibitions, replication and restoration, establishing cultural relics archives, archaeological excavations, cultural relics promotion, interpretation, and popularization of historical knowledge.
