Guanglu Island Scenic Area

Guanglu Island is located in the western part of Waichangshan Island in the northern Yellow Sea. It is a national-level island forest park and one of the scenic areas in Liaoning Province. The island consists of 23 large and small islands, islets, and reefs, covering a sea area of 1,000 square kilometers with a coastline stretching 74 kilometers.

Guanglu Island enjoys an exceptionally favorable geographical environment. To its west is the Dalian Golden Pebble Beach National Tourist Resort, and to its north, it faces key southern Liaoning towns such as Pikou and Dengshahe across the sea. It is the closest island to Dalian among the Changshan Archipelago and is often referred to as the “Gateway to Dalian.” It is also the largest island in the Changshan Archipelago. Guanglu Island has fertile soil and abundant freshwater resources, making it the island with the most freshwater among the many islands in Changhai County.

The sea around Guanglu Island is vast and rich in specialties, offering a full range of marine products such as sea cucumbers, shrimp, shellfish, and seaweed. In particular, the island’s specialty—Yesso scallops—are considered top-quality scallops and are beloved by visitors from South Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, and Europe and America. They are also a major export earner every year. Guanglu Island enjoys a pleasant climate and beautiful scenery, featuring a North Temperate Zone marine climate, making it an ideal destination for tourism and vacation. In recent years, the island’s tourism industry has developed rapidly, with significantly improved reception capacity and service quality. The tourism market here is now very mature. Its unique marine erosion landscapes, astronomical and historical sites, Fairy Lake, Golden Sand Beach, Moon Bay, and Rainbow Beach are especially captivating for sightseeing and vacationing visitors.
