Xiaochangshan Island Scenic Area

Xiaochangshan Island is located in the central area of the Changshan Archipelago, 54 nautical miles from Dalian City and 1.6 kilometers from Da Changshan Island, where the government of Changhai County is situated. Xiaochangshan Township consists of the main island of Xiaochangshan as well as 28 other islands, islets, and reefs including Wumang Island and Jiaozao Island.

Xiaochangshan Island lies within China’s renowned “Haiyangdao Fishing Ground.” With vast waters, deep depths, numerous reefs, and abundant fish resources, it enjoys the reputation of being a “heavenly fishing haven.” It has been designated as a Chinese sea fishing base by both the China Angling Association and the Dalian Changhai International Fishing Festival. A national-level marine rare species nature reserve is located on the Hedaizhuzi islet of Xiaochangshan Island. The area is famous both at home and abroad for its high-quality seafood, including sea cucumber, abalone, and scallops.

Xiaochangshan Island boasts beautiful scenery and fresh air. The island features undulating mountains covered with lush, dense forests, set against the backdrop of the sea. There are natural bathing beaches with clean sand and water, making them perfect spots for local residents to exercise by the sea. Flocks of seagulls can be seen playing or soaring above nearby reefs. During high tide, the seawater gently laps over the sandy beach, occasionally carrying strands of green seaweed. At the northeastern tip of Xiaochangshan Island, islands, islets, and reefs are closely connected by shallow waters—separated during high tide but joining together again at low tide—making it an ideal destination for fishing and beachcombing.
